SUPPLIERS’ NIGHT UPDATE: COVID-19 Updated as of March 9, 2020 Quick Links: Tips / Key Information As the world is widely aware, the World Health Organization (WHO) has recently declared the 2019 Coronavirus (COVID-19) an international public health emergency. Our thoughts are with all who have been directly and indirectly affected by this outbreak. With public safety in mind, the U.S. government has taken unprecedented steps to protect against the spread of COVID-19. Global, federal and local public health authorities continue to provide up-to-date recommendations for the public, businesses and public events. To date, public health agencies are not recommending the cancellation of public events, including conferences. At this time, Cactus IFT Suppliers’ Night 2020 is proceeding as planned, Tuesday, March 31st, 2020 in Phoenix, Arizona. We look forward to welcoming you to for an engaging, educational and valuable networking event. The Expo continues to be on track to be another good event for Food Technologists in the area. What Cactus IFT is Doing The Cactus IFT Board is continuing to monitor developments about COVID-19. We will follow the recommendations of global, federal and local public health authorities should further action be required. We will provide any necessary updates on our web page and via direct communications to our attendees, speakers, exhibitors and partners. What You Can Do Health and safety starts with each one of us. The CDC is advising the public to practice every day preventative measures to help stop the spread of germs, as typical in the current flu and respiratory disease season. If you feel sick, please stay home or in your hotel room. We encourage all conference attendees to keep these common-sense precautions when onsite at Cactus IFT Suppliers’ Night. 1. Wash your hands often – and thoroughly (for at least 20 seconds) – with soap and water; especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing. 2. Don’t touch your eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands. 3. Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash. 4. The CDC does not recommend that people who are well wear a facemask to protect themselves from respiratory illnesses, including COVID-19. You should only wear a mask if a healthcare professional recommends it. Follow leading safety standards when handling and preparing any food or beverage products.
